Well, you are going away on a holiday or vacation once again. If you’re anything like me you love traveling but get the shakes when you think of all the people back home that may be expecting a little ‘something’ in the way of a souvenir from your travels!
Even if they don’t actually want anything you feel you should get them something anyway – isn’t that right?? I’ve been to China, Europe, the USA and Canada, Fiji, Japan, England and France. I spend a lot of time in these places looking at knicknacks, souvenirs and T-shirts to buy friends and relatives as a momento of MY trip! How silly are we, really?? Do my friends really want a small replica furry panda bear from China? Will the grandkids really get excited with a small double decker bus from London when they have never seen one themselves? Will it get chucked out in the next house cleaning effort?
Most times now I come home empty handed – not for lack of trying but because it is so hard to find something that may be useful and interesting, not too expensive and most of all packs away to nothing in my suitcase. I just tell myself that no one will really care too much but sometimes I feel very sad when I haven’t found something to give everyone.
There is a nice line of gifts now from Australia that I wouldn’t mind buying in other countries for my family back home. The line consists of wine and water bottle coolers, barmats, mousepads camera cases, etc. I really like the notepads and journals because they are cheap and flat and lightweight!! Everything that I am looking for AND they use an image of an original Aboriginal art painting in their design AND royalties go back to the artist! They are USEFUL, you can write in them!
They can also be shipped to your home as well so you don’t have to pack them and cart them everywhere you go….. What more could you ask for!!
